[ADSL/FTTC] Maintenance windows 25th-26th March 2014
Posted by David Croft on 17 March 2014 07:47 PM
Please be advised of the following maintenance windows scheduled on
our ADSL/FTTC service.

Date: Tuesday, 25th March 2014
Start time: 22:00 GMT
End time: 06:00 GMT (Wednesday)

Date: Wednesday, 26th March 2014
Start time: 22:00 GMT
End time: 06:00 GMT (Thursday)

Purpose:

Upgrades to our ADSL/FTTC platform.

Services affected:

ADSL/FTTC services.
(Cloud Ethernet business FTTC services will not be affected).

Impact:

Low.

Our ADSL and FTTC services are delivered through multiple redundant
sites. Each of these sites will be upgraded separately, and so we are
expecting a very minor impact.

ADSL and FTTC customers may lose connectivity briefly during these
windows, if they are currently connected to the site that is being
upgraded. Customers should find that their devices automatically
reconnect within a few minutes to an alternate site.

If you continue to have problems following this maintenance, please
turn your ADSL/FTTC modem/router off and on again. If you continue to
experience any problems after following this procedure, please contact
the NOC.

We will be monitoring our systems carefully during these windows.

Comtec NOC is tracking this issue under ticket [#RFU-629-93955].

Regards,

David Croft

[IP Voice Services] - Emergency Engineering Work: 15/03/2014
Posted by Richard Betson on 14 March 2014 01:00 PM
Please be advised of the following planned engineering works on the IP Voice Services platform:

Date: 03:00 to 06:00 on Saturday, 15/03/2014

Purpose
Our IP Voice Platform Engineering Team will be performing Emergency works to replace hardware within a call processing server within one of the platforms call processing clusters, between 03:00 on 15/03/2014 and 06:00 on 15/03/2014.

Monitoring of server hardware has indicated a failing hardware element within one of the servers in a cluster. Whilst this is still running as expected, so is not affecting service currently Engineering wish to repl ace it at the earliest opportunity to prevent it's possible failure from impacting on service in the future. As such they are carrying out these works tomorrow morning.

As this server is the primary within the cluster, prior to undertaking the works service will be rolled to its peer to ensure service that maintained with as little impact to customers as possible. When service is rolled users may experience a brief period of increased post dial delay or a drop in registration, this should last no longer than 2 minutes. We recommend that if users do experience a call setup issue that they wait 2 minutes and retry their action.

Impact
Our IP Voice Platform Engineering team will roll service at the best possible time within this window to ensure any disruption is kept to a minimum.

Once the primary is reinstated traffic will be restored back to it gradually as devices go through a standard registration refresh over the course of the weekend.

If your Phone System does not re-register automatically after the maintenance window please restart and test again before contacting the NOC for further assistance.

We apologise for the short notice of these works, the Engineering to team will be working to make sure that any disruption, if experienced, is kept to a minimum.

Regards,

Comtec Network Operation Centre

For urgent operational issues please always contact noc at comtec.com or

IP Voice.Services Call Recording system.

Date: Saturday, 1st March 2014
Start time: 18:00 GMT
End time: 01:00 GMT

Purpose:

The engineering team will be performing works to migrate the database

[Core Network] Service Alert 14th February 2014 - Update 6
Posted by David Croft on 21 February 2014 01:51 PM
This is an incident notification regarding Internet connectivity at
site LSREI01 (Comtec House).

Date: Friday, 14th February 2014
Start time: 13:42 GMT
End time: 18:38 GMT

Services affected:

Internet access at LSREI01 (Comtec House).

Report:

At 13:42 we observed flapping in a third party circuit out of Comtec
House. Failover to the backup lines happened automatically and
services to Comtec House continued to operate, albeit on reduced
resilience.

Our supplier advised that they were experiencing a nationwide major
service outage (MSO) across their network.

We have now received the RFO from our supplier as follows:

"This fault was caused by a faulty link between two of our core
network sites, Hersham and Brentford.

The fibre optic cables were cleaned, which resolved the problem, and
services have been stable since this was done."

Comtec NOC is tracking this issue under ticket [SUJ-701-70770].

Best regards,

David Croft
